A ROUND OF GOLF

Ever wondered why a round of golf is 18 holes (and not 12, 10, or 20 [or any other number?])

It is said that in 1858 at St Andrews Golf Club one of the gentlemen golfers decided that as there are exactly 18 ‘shots’ (drams?) in a bottle of scotch, then if he limited himself to one snort/dram per hole, it would take 18 to finish the bottle!!

I’m in favour of there being some ‘quality control’ trials to see whether today’s bottles ‘measure up’?

Check out Robin Williams take on the ‘auld game’.
