So the NZRFU has posted a multi-million $$$ loss for the year. http://www.stuff.co.nz/sport/rugby/news/3610603/NZ-Rugby-Union-unveils-15-9m-loss So the Melbourne Storm have been found to have exceeded the salary$$$ cap for a couple of seasons. http://www.stuff.co.nz/sport/league/3612541/Melbourne-Storm-stripped-of-titles-fined So the IPL is rife with claims of match fixing and bribery. http://www.stuff.co.nz/sport/cricket/3611115/Fleming-s-IPL-team-raided-by-tax-officials So what! It’s only to be expected. Sport is sport and business is business and if you start running a sport to make money (as a business) the fine ideals of the sport will be the first casualties. The sponsors don’t give a damn about the sport just so long as they and their brethren continue to make money, so they will cheat, they will cut corners as $$$ saving expedients, they will throw out the rules of fair play, they will sacrifice the purity of the game. Any surprise then that there are big $$$ problems in sport?
